The best advice I can give to you and to anyone who is in a situation like this is to pay the bill. First things first and that's your credit. You were wronged and you're suffering for it but don't allow this person to hurt you any worse than they already have. Almost any company, electric for sure, will work with you to make a payment plan you can handle to avoid the account going into collections. You can still sue and/or attempt to get your fair share back even if you've paid it in full.

you should call him saying hey you told me that you were going to pay the eletric bill but you have not and tell him he has to pay it soon and tell your not going to wait for him

Pay the bill if you can... then take him to court!!! you might be able to sue him for the bill plus court costs depending on what state you live and and what the rules are

I'm sorry your case to me is not strong enough to rule in favor with you it's what we consider hear say your saying that your roommate stuck you with the lightbill and it was sent to collections but there is not proof as the plaintiff it's your job to provide evidence and the burden of proof that it has effected your credit unfortuniately you have people who do things like that and it's a shame but you don't have enough to convince me to rule in your favor

Kelly, The first poster had it right. Pay it all off, keep receipts, then take the low down dirty dog to ....dogs....oh! & I forgot...lying...dirty low down dogs to court. You will win.

that was a really crappy thing for him to do to you.At the same time though, if you care about your credit you should pay the bill. The account was under your name which ultimately makes you responsible for it.Save any receipts and any proof you have that he is liable for the bill. Then when you have everything in order take his butt to small claims court and sue him for the bill and any costs that you had to pay because of the bill being delinquent and your court costs as well.

You look as if you emit a foul odor from your person, most likely due to a lack of personal hygiene.
