If u want then go ahead and refuse to answer blocked numbers, just dont answer, so wats the problem. BUT i have to say sometimes folks are just plain stupid when it comes to not answering blocked numbers or phone numbers they dont recognize. I use to work at a domestic violence agency and our number would show up blocked or say unavailble...it was this way for safety reasons so the abuser wouldnt know we called. But the problem was ladies would call us for help but when we needed to call them back to give safety info or tell them we had a bed for them and the kids...THEY wouldn't answer the phone!!!! then they would call back (with an attitude)and claim no one called them. Then we would tell them when we called and they wud say "oh that was u, our phone doesn't take blocked calls or I dont answer blocked calls. Even when calling to schedule therapy appts it was difficult getting thru, no matter how many times we told them we're blocked, it never fails they still wouldnt answer the phone. Another example I was going to clients home that was really far, well i couldn't find her house so i called like ten times and got no answer...so there i was goin to gas stations trying to find this lady's house (oh did i mention that she forgot to tell me that her house address was missing numbers)...anyways, this lady calls my job and says that she had a home visit with a counselor but no one showed. My office called me on my cell and said they told her i was trying to find her and that i had been calling. After speaking with my office i called her one more time and thank God she finally picked up! I told her that i had been calling and calling her... She said :Oh i don't answer numbers i dont know". Who the heck did she think was calling her??? why didnt she think wow maybe its the counslor trying to reach me! Third arguement if you get a call and dont recognize the number, did u ever think someone could be calling you regarding an emergency. I have had my nephew call me from someone else number because he waas stranded somewhere and his phone had died! You obviously dont have children! Why are u so paranoid about answering the phone. Oh and if a call comes in and these a brief pause after u answer well thats probaby a computerized telemarketer....just hang up...no big deal!!!

this is my verdict: dj1987's argument is absolutely right, but i don't understand why this woman is so obsessed with caller id. you know, there was a time when called id didn't exist and people got along fine. how about you appreaciate the fact that we live in a world where it's so easy for people to get in touch with you and vice versa as opposed to [bleep]ing about something that really doesn't matter. i think you have issues...

Thing one: You do not need to answer your phone just because it's ringing. If the call comes at an inconvenient time, just let it ring-- if it's important, the caller will leave a message. Thing two: if you pick up a call and you don't like what you hear, you are free to hang up. If you don't hear a voice when you pick up, hang up. If it's someone you don't want to talk to, hang up.

It's a mild annoyance
I share your frustration over phone issues. I don't like using the phone, especially if it is not someone that I know well. I'm, personally, very finicky with my phone, and will only answer if I know exactly who it is. I understand your annoyance by blocked numbers, mostly because the people blocking their numbers are trying to hide who they are in the hopes that you will mistakenly pick up. It's an insult to your intelligence, and someone calling you to insult you is not a nice thing to do. The thing that I hate more than that is when they refuse to leave a message to inform me of why they are calling. If it happens once, just like with blocked numbers, I'm completely fine with ignoring it and going about my day. It doesn't affect me in the slightest. But when they call back, every 20 minutes, acting as if it is important that they talk to you (when it obviously isn't...otherwise they would leave a message asking you to call them back immediately), and refuse to simply leave a message with their intent...it tends to add some stress to my day, and when I finally give up and answer the stranger who obviously can't take a hint, I tend to take it out on them and ruin their day right back. It's extraordinarily frustrating. Now, I know, I -know-. To most people out there, the answer is simply "so pick it up, find out what it is, and be done with it." I, for one, have a bit of a phone phobia when it comes to speaking with strangers. It is why I like to know who is calling before-hand. It helps to alleviate some of the anxiety. And I don't think that it is unreasonable to feel annoyed that strangers feel entitled to force me to answer my phone through constant annoyance to find out what it is that they want, when they could just as easily be courteous and provide the information with a message on their first call.

The reason you hear nothing when you pick up the phone after several times of saying hello, is that telemarketers use an automatic system that dials several numbers at once and they jump at the first number that picks up and says hello. They don't say anything right away because they're either talking to someone else, or they're so shocked that someone actually picked it up, the phone has already been disconnected by the time they realize they're supposed to be talking. I suggest that you and others that feel the way I do about blocked or unknown callers on CallerID do what I do. If I don't recognize the number or the name or it says blocked or unknown caller, just don't pick up. Period! If you don't have an answering machine to catch those calls, I suggest you click on the answer button then immediately click the off button.

It is a priviledge to be heard and just because you want me to hear you does not mean that I want to hear you. My phone, my minutes, unblock your number and then I, not you, will decide if you are to be heard.

Come on, y'all! For those of you with mean things to say to this woman about her looks or whatever, that's just plain mean. If you don't want to watch her video don't watch it! There is no reason to be mean to her! You should be ashamed of yourselves. Ma'am I'm sorry you had to see some of these rude comments. People can be really cruel. Pay them no mind.

aloha- i get this everyday who call me when stranger i have never met at all on my home phone. but if i was you i would be on a no call list is you do want people to tell you who is calling you. and if i do not know who is calling me at all then i do not answer my phone at all. tellermarkers is the one that is calling you all the time that is why.
Voted on January 27, 2010
What!
If they identified themselves would you answer? Sign up for the do not call list! If you do not know who is calling do not answer. If it is important they will leave a message or call back later.

Since this seems to be such an issue with you then buy an answering machine and let people tell it who they are before you decide whether to pick up the phone or not!

Hey there. I voted for you because I understand your frustration and what it stems from. Digitalgeek is correct about the fact that those calls you get where they don't say anything back is an auto dial system. We just don't answer those, and if I happen to answer one by accident I just quickly tell them I am not interested or this is a bad time, and hang up. It's not rude in my opinion to do that.

I dont think this is the forum to share your phone records and instructions how to use your telephone. this wasnt a video to post your opinion. this was your personal axe to grind. newsflash: WE DONT CARE! its real simple. you dont know who is calling dont answer!

OK, it's not that hard to answer your phone. Why does does everyone need to know who is call them. People did just fine before caller id.

Get alife, if you're not looking at your neighbors weeds, your complaining about blocked calls. They probably don't want you to have their number because you keep a log like a suspicious lonely spinster, and you probably would be stalking them. You are a lonely person who trusts nobody, a snoop that needs to get a life. Go get your hair done and quit being so unhappy about your lonesome a** life

STOP MAKING VIDEOS! You don't make any sense, you babble way to much and nobody wants to call you except telemarketeers, the welfare office and the occasional wrong number. Stop making stupid arguements just to be seen. You got a face that's meant to be hidden. Have you not learned anything from your great great great grandfather the hunchback of norte dame?

Sorry
These videos of yours take forever before you get to the point. Think of what you are going to say before you start recording. Don't answer the phone if it's blocked...it's not that hard.

Most of those "unavailable" calls are from telemarketers. It's in their best interest to not identify themselves on the outside chance that you'll pick up and listen to a sales pitch. Put yourself on the "do-not-call" registry. You will still receive phone solicitations from non-profit organizations, because they are exempt from the list, but you can cut down on the number of disruptions.
